Instant Reactions - QPR v Middlesbrough (20/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between Queens Park Rangers and Middlesbrough, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Queens Park Rangers hosted Middlesbrough at Loftus Road on Saturday January 20, with the visitors taking a three nil victory.

Tony Pulis secured his first win since taking over at the club with goals coming from Daniel Ayala and George Friend in the first half before Adama Traore added a third in the second period.

Middlesbrough move into eighth place in the Championship table, whilst QPR slip to 16th.

Teams:

QPR:

Smithies, Onuoha, Lynch, Robinson, Furlong, Luongo, Scowen (Eze 70), Freeman, Bidwell (Osayi-Samuel 45), Oteh (Smith 45), Washington.

Substitutes:

Ingram, Manning, Baptiste, Wszolek.

Middlesbrough:

Randolph, Shotton, Ayala, Gibson, Friend, Howson, Leadbitter, Traore, Downing (Christie 87), Bamford (Clayton 72), Assombalonga (Gestede 69).

Substitutes:

Konstantopoulos, Braithwaite, Fletcher, Johnson.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Oliver Langford blew the final whistle, Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway explained.

'In the first 15 minutes we were causing them all sorts of trouble and I can assure you that Tony Pulis, who's a friend of mine, wasn't too happy. But unfortunately we got undone by a corner, which they're brilliant at and we're normally good at. We lost a flick at the near post and then Ayala is standing there and heads it in. It's a mountain to climb after that.'

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis in his comparative interview explained.

'As soon as we got a goal we then went on and deservedly won the game. For the players to put in that kind of performance and show that bit of character, I'm really pleased. We played some good stuff at times, created opportunities, and when we had to roll our sleeves up and battle we restricted them to not many opportunities.'
