Gutted With Defeat To Sheffield United

Gutted With Defeat To Sheffield United

Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway declared himself gutted with defeat to Sheffield United in midweek as he felt the least we deserved was a point from the affair.

Travelling to Bramall Lane for the game, Queens Park Rangers fell behind to a Richard Stearman goal just ahead of the half hour mark in the game and John Lundstram added a second 15 minutes after the restart.

The half time break and some choice words between the group did lead to significant improvement in the second half of the game and Luke Freeman made it a one goal game just after the hour mark but QPR couldn't build on that with a second strike to tie things up.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, a clearly dejected Ollie explained.

'It was a good performance but the result wasn`t what we wanted. We could`ve - and should`ve - got something from that game. For their efforts, I`m devastated for the lads that we didn`t get anything. They`re a very good team. We`re not far off it. But I`m absolutely gutted.'

As for the goals conceded on the day, Holloway was also disappointed with both of them as he felt they were avoidable.

'We switched off for their first goal. We switched off for a split second and it cost us, dear. For the second goal we got cut open but then after that, we were the better team. We got one back through a brilliant goal. We created some good chances late on in the game.'

With only two away wins all season, Holloway said it was key that we showed more belief on our travels and took the positives from our home results.

'We`ve got to start believing we can win these kind of games away from home because we`re certainly playing well enough. I`ll take the performance and the spirit that we showed again. I can`t criticise my lads. They kept going and going. But we`re going home with nothing and that`s what disappoints me more than anything else. We`ve got to learn and learn quickly about getting results away from home.'
