Sunderland Wasn't Pretty, Nor Eze!

Sunderland Wasn't Pretty, Nor Eze!

Manager Ian Holloway was delighted to see Queens Park Rangers take all three points from the Sunderland clash this weekend.

The match at Loftus Road was goalless after the opening 45 minutes but with visiting goalkeeper Jason Steele seeing red four minutes into the second half, QPR made that man advantage finally count just after the hour as Ebere Eze scored his first senior goal for the club.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Holloway was clearly delighted with how things turned out from us but he knew it was far from a 'classic' or 'pretty' showing and he had to credit the opposition for making things difficult for us, before we became 'good value' for the win.

'I`m delighted with the win. It wasn`t pretty but it`s a big win for us. They changed formation for the game and that made it difficult for us. But we really stuck to the task and in the end we were good value for the win.'

With an element of class to Eze's goal in the way it played out, Holloway went on to say.

'I always feel we`ve got a great chance when it`s 0-0 at half time - and then the red card gave us a lift. Ebere has got some wonderful skills and he took his goal superbly. It was a lovely finish with his left foot. He showed that little bit of QPR stardust for us today. He finished the goal with a bit of a cigar on!'

He added about the lack of prettiness to the affair.

'Sometimes you can be good when you`re ugly. It was ugly in the first half and then good in the second half, so there you go! We did the nasty side of the game really well. The clean sheet was what we wanted and the way we defended over the 90 minutes, it was what we deserved.'
