Holloway Considering Pistol Pete

Ian Holloway will this week sit down with the money men at Loftus Road to decide whether a bid to sign goal machine 'Pistol' Pete Thompson is in the interests of the club.

Eager not to break the bank and put the club back into financial trouble, Holloway told BBC Sport that he will consider bidding, only if the price is right.

'I've got to think about the state of my club and whether we've got the finance and what we can do.' he said.

The Rangers boss was impressed with what he saw, adding 'The lad was neat and tidy and worked his socks off.'

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie was also in attendance as Linfield's coach David Jeffrey promised he would not stand in the postman's way if an acceptable bid was filed. He did admit that any interested parties can make there minds up by watching the 21-year old in action and refused to allow Thompson to have a trial at any club.

'If anybody wants him, they can make up their minds by watching him out on the pitch,' said Jeffrey.

Scottish club Gretna had a £100,000 bid turned down earlier this month and there are said to be a number of other interested league clubs following the forward's progress.
