| It's the old dilemma, free transfers and loan players, do they really have the desire to play for us ?
We've been caught out before taking players on loan who couldn't be bothered, and Fabio has the potential to be another Man U player who turns out to be a waste of time.
Sometimes a "freebie" can be an inspired signing but it really is hit and miss with free transfers.
Most of the time there are players you just know we shouldn't bother signing, Wayne Bridge springs to mind, no matter how cheap they are.

| Fabio is not the kind of player we need !!
As to free's well some can be OK, ie Rob Green but in general they will be some other clubs cast offs.
We dont need to make a statement this season (like Joey Barton) last season but some decent signings are needed to ensure we do not get dragged into relegation again ! |

| We don't really need a major overhaul. Cisse, Mackie, Faurlin, Diakite............ see, we have at least four quality players !

| Surely, we have to be prudent about all this. Tony may have pots of money, but at the moment, our beloved Loftus Road just aint bringing in the funds. Alright, as far as we know, hefty wages are being paid, but until we do get larger premises, we aren't in the league for big money spendings AND big wages too.
I think that the board are doing the best they can and even if the Loft is full every home game, it still wont be enough. I hate to say it (although living abroad, it doesn't affect me in fact, only in mind) we must move to bigger premises. |

Careful Kiwi, I was taken to task for suggesting we'd signed Diakite |

| I'ld be shocked if Diakite isn't ours already.

| I don't necessarily think it's prudency in terms of the fee - we end up paying far in excess of some warranted fees when you take into account signing on fees.
I get the impression that the balance sheet looks a whole deal better when £3m is spent over the course of someone's wages as opposed to an initial outlay that's all.
It's an interesting financial approach - but if you believe the players that we're linked with - beyond Diakité - then all we're looking at is free transfers - which somewhat refines the scope! |

Apparently not from the one in the know. I too thought tit was a done deal. We shall see. But hugely dis appointed if it doesn't happen. |

| I think it's a case of dotting the I's and crossing the T's - our club has been embarassed in the past with this kind of thing, so it's just not worth the hassle announcing early.
AS Nancy have already announced it as 4m Euros. |

| The Transfer window does not open Until July 1st so players contracted to another club cannot be signed until the window opens.
All the players we and other clubs have signed are Free Agents whose contracts are terminating at June 30th.
No doubt Diakate will be announced in July. |

| Very good point Ranger48. I think we'll see a radical change in transfer targets once the window opens. |
