Interesting. I just wonder if they are after him to use as a midfielder? After last season, I was hoping that we could use him this way as he is clearly better at going forward than actually defending.

He showed me last season in two games against Man City what he's all about.

Not incredible at the back and inconsistent in his crossing. World-beater away from home for Mackie, disastrous at home for Silva...

Benfica were after Taye Taiwo, so maybe someone getting their QPR left backs mixed up? Traore has played in all pre-season games on the left so far, and Fabio on the right, so think this report is way off the mark.

..and shazaaam, the rumour is nixed on the spot by our wonderful chairman.

Tony Fernandes ?@tonyfernandes

I am not sure where these rumours are coming from. We are building a squad. Not selling. Armard Traorre is a very importanr player to QPR.

I hope Tony F is not misleading us, as some chairmen often do. 'So and so is not leaving,' and the next week he's gone. I agree that Traore's defensive capabilities are not so hot, but his speed from defense is something we certainly need to keep. also agree we need a real defensive blockeer like Samba, not another attacker in Bellamy. He's good there's no doubt, but we are short defensively IMHO.

If Mackie is staying and now Hoilett is here, cannot see a need for Craig Bellamy now.

Glad we are going to get Hoilet and keep Traore.Mark knows what the first is all about and I know that Traore will be great for us in the new side being built.I think all the sceptics will be coming across to the other side with the signings we have made, come on you R's.

paulrangers,

There wasn't anything sceptic in my comment. I was just looking at it from a keeper's POV. We like our fullbacks to be better at defending than they are at attacking. With Traore, I see his future more in a Gareth Bale way, starting as a defender and being shifted into midfield. Unless former striker Hughes van teach him to defend better :)

Traore has played such a big part in the Asia tour that I would be surprised if we were going to let him go. We are not exactly blessed with an abundance of defenders and Traore is one I would hang on to.

QPR4ME: Nothing was pointed at anyone in my post,we all have our views and I respect your opinion as much as any others so please dont take umbage. We are all supporters of QPR and for the first time in I dont know how long I feel we are getting back to where we once were,a top side playing good football.

The new season will be upon us soon and what would give me great pleasure is for all who clashed last season be able to put it in the past and get back together talking about football, thats all.

Wasn't digging you out, was just voicing the view of the much maligned species, the goalkeeper

As for the top side bit, let's bloody hope so. We've all had enough of being the skint, crap one!!
