Are we going to end up getting caught out again here I wonder?

Once again there's a fee quite openly in the public domain. Clubs - like Chelsea did last year - are parking it and waiting to see what else they can do in the meantime.

A few days before the likes of Spurs or WHU swoop and take him away and we're left chasing a market in the knowledge that we have £15m neatly tucked away in our back pocket.

I just hope the club has wised up this time and we don't leave ourselves pitifully short (again).

The media and bookies also don't seem to have a clue. Suspended betting twice, thousands of articles about who is the 'front-runner' in the 'race for Austin' - Seems it's only Leicester in that race and they fell at the first hurdle.

Trouble is I don't think will will spend the money anyway, Austin will go, someone will agree the £15m, but we will not spend hardly any of this, so we stay within this years FFP, to me the ideal replacement would be Andre Gray or Dwight Gale both can be had for around 8-9m but there is no way we will spend that, So we will be left with cast offs like Leon Best.

Just one point on Austin, I think he has been great during this whole saga, yes he wants to go, only because he wants to push for an England place and the Euro's but he has done everything the right way, just got on with it, so credit to him, as much as I want him to stay he deserves a chance at a decent club.

As to QPRs transfer policy this window, it looks like a midfield fest, and that will kill us, we need to strengthen the back four to have any chance of being mid table, and a proven goalscorer to have any chance of a play-off position

Why, oh why, do we insist on showing our hand in every deal? We start off putting a valuation out for Charlie and then tell the world we are skint and in desperate need of money!! Of course clubs are going to wait and try to get a last minute deal.
We need to stick to our guns, £15 million or he stays. The goals he scores this season could be worth £60 million come next May.

I agree Clonners. £15m or he stays. Be adamant and hold our ground. Unfortunately I fear just like Boxer alludes to, Chelsea will stay on the sidelines until the last knockings and then bid £15m just like Remy last time round. They have the cash to pick up strikers along the way, just to deny them to other clubs. Then put him out on loan, or let him warm his posterior on the bench (if picked and then only for "safe"Euro ties) more fool Charlie!

Of course, that leaves us, once again, without an established striker and no transfer window left to repair the damage
