I thought following the celebration yesterday, the man deserves a thread on here to honour his service. I never saw him play but have seen plenty of videos of him, and his magic. I especially enjoyed a goal against Wolves where one player rang up the wing after receiving the ball from the keeper. He crossed it to Stan, who beat one defender then put it in the net. Fantastic. Maybe someone was there or remembers it.

Whenever I talk to older supporters anywhere, Stan is always mentioned quickly so I think he must have been really special.

Good luck, dignity and the best of health possible to him.

I remember Stan arriving at Loftus Rd in 1972, I was 14 and didn't know anything about him (no internet back then!). What I witnessed over the years was simply magical. Despite being such a skilful player Stan was as tough as they came on the pitch. The highlights of his time at Loftus Road are too many to mention, but the European nights under the lights at LR were an absolute joy, Stan and Don Givens tearing teams apart. Always believed he was just that bit better that Rodney Marsh and, at times, on a par with George Best. Have the pleasure of meeting him once and he was a very amiable chap off the field and had time to chat to all he met.

Exactly, he WAS magical.

But he had more than talent, he was a real character, something which seems to be lacking in today's game.

This pic says it all...
