While I was engaged in some Vital QPR housekeeping I found an article, written by sandydl, published on 18 August 2011 (almost six years to the day) called 'Welcome Back, My QPR'.

I have to say, re-reading that enthusiastic and highly optimistic article that I wrote 6 years ago does bring a tear to my eye.

It really didn't go as well as expected/hoped for, did it?

Look where we are now? Scrabbling around for bargains & freebies - back in the Championship - finances still messed up, club still a shambles (although that's probably a little harsh as I do think Les Ferdinand is doing a good job; it's just a long, long road with so many potholes along the way that he has to fix!). And still nothing released (if it's been decided yet) on FFP!!

Oh well - such is life being a QPR fan.

Great reply sandydl also great to see your VQPR return.

Must admit, I thought your article was quite thought provoking hence the reason why I decided to bring it back to life.

I'm hoping your article hits the spot with many of us who, were not around on this site when you wrote it.

Wow that brings back memories. Ecclestone and Briatore were a right pair of plums. Looking at an article about current money and spending and apparently we have the second lowest spend on wages to revenue in the championship

Happy days for both QPR and this old web site. I was wondering what happened to Sandy (and all the others too).

Oh well, we soon came unstuck. And though I was one of those who felt Colin was struggling in the PL, it turns out he was the most successful PL manager we've had for probably 20 years.

Hoping for a revival of QPR and this site, but I suspect there's more hope of that sooner with the latter.

You and me both. In fact Vital HQ has dragged me back from the past in an effort to keep the VQPR lights on. And that is really saying something.

Hoping for a revival of QPR and this site, but I suspect there's more hope of that sooner with the latter.

I'm not holding my breath on either account

Think everyone hoped/ believed that the good times were back for QPR when Sandy wrote that article. Little did we know that our new owner would be so willing to bow to fan pressure so easily.
Perhaps now we are starting to see the small shoots of revival, low spending, 'right sort' of player. All we need now is fan expectation to be more realistic.
