QUEENS Park Rangers have taken a big step in their quest for promotion by defeating Paul Jewell's Ipswich Town.
In a game fought out predominantly in the middle of the park, Rangers were able to put the final touches on a relatively even encounter.
Clint Hill was on hand to break the deadlock from close range after Shittu's header was deflected down from Adel Taarabt's corner
Despite brief flurries of promise, notably from the highly sought-after striker Connor Wickham, the Tractor Boys were unable to deliver that decisive blow.
Rangers however have proven their battling potential this season, and when Hill's delightfully chipped cross was powered home by Heidar Helguson, Loftus Road erupted into a cauldron of noise.
QPR march on at the summit and look to continue a fine run of results against Middlesbrough this weekend.
