Robins Drag QPR Into Danger

BRISTOL City gave their survival chances a shot in the arm with a convincing win over Queens Park Rangers on Good Friday.

In a game of very little quality, Rangers appeared to have the deckchairs out and sunglasses as the Robins swooped with ease to take all three points at Ashton Gate.

Marlon Pack got the ball rolling after Rangers rather static back-line failed to react to a short corner routine, allowing the ball to drop to the feet of midfielder Pack to power home.

Rangers never really recovered and turned in one of the more forgettable performances of the campaign. Their counterparts appeared buoyed by Rangers' distinct mediocrity and doubled their advantage before the break.

Grant Hall most definitely missed as City scythed a gaping chasm through the QPR defence with Jamie Paterson walking through and slotting beyond Alex Smithies.

It was a blow from which Rangers did not recover. The only saving grace is that it did not get any worse on the score-line front. Indeed the visitors had to wait until injury time to halve the arrears.

Half time substitute Conor Washington was the liveliest player on the park for Rangers and his enterprise and cross set up top scorer Idrissa Sylla to net his ninth of the campaign from close range.

A long way short of the mark from QPR however who see Bristol City close the gap to three points between the two teams. In all likelihood one more win will do it for Rangers suffered their fourth defeat in succession and have only one win in six games to their name.

Experimentation should now take a back seat as Rangers look to deal a blow to Sheffield Wednesday's promotion prospects on Easter Monday.
