QUEENS Park Rangers fell to a crushing defeat at the hands of Norwich City, bringing down the curtain on an utterly dismal campaign.

Ian Holloway's men only escaped relegation by two points - losing seven of their last eight games and being absolutely outplayed in this latest turgid affair.

Dispensing with what proved successful last week, Holloway reverted back to the experimental style that has yielded a disastrous run of defeats in recent weeks.

Rangers treated their sell-out visiting crowd with something tantamount to contempt, as even a managerless Norwich side with their backsides pressed into deckchairs were able to run rings around a lacklustre QPR side.

First Wes Hoolahan walked inside from the right unchallenged before having the freedom of Carrow Road to get his shot away - it deflected off one of Nedum Onuoha's tree trunks and beyond Alex Smithies.

Rangers' only real effort in anger was a Pawel Wszolek strike that was ably saved by skipper John Ruddy in his final appearance for the club - tipping the ball onto the cross-bar.

After hauling off Matt Smith for Luke Freeman at half time, things went from bad to worse - Alex Pritchard doubled the Canaries' advantage, the former Tottenham Hotspur volleying home at the second attempt.

Holloway threw on youngsters in a vain attempt to muster some pride from the fixture but it was mere window dressing on an occasion where the Rs fell woefully short once more.

Josh Murphy was next on the scoresheet with five minutes remaining - a hopeful ball over the top saw the youngster get the wrong side of Onuoha before holding him off and passing beyond Smithies - the 'keeper himself will be disappointed given the high standards he sets.

The fourth was highly embarrassing for all concerned - substitute Cameron Jerome passing the ball across goal for Hoolahan to pass home into an empty net.

A final nail in the coffin of an entirely forgettable season. Seven defeats in the final eight games can only be viewed as unacceptable as we wait with baited breath for pre-season sound bites of transformation, change and excitement.
