Taarabat was born on the 24 May 1989 in Berre-l'Étang, France and is of Moroccan origin.
He has represented France at U-16, U-17 and U-18 level and is able to play as a Second Striker, Attacking Midfielder or on either wing, and is well known for his dribbling ability and shooting from distance.
On the 11th February he made his full international debut for Morocco in a friendly against the Czech Republic
Taarabt signed for Spurs on loan in January 2007 from French side Racing Club de Lens, and within two months he made his first senior appearance, coming on as a substitute on the 85th minute against West Ham United.
He made an immediate impact with his first touch leading to the 3-3 equaliser as a driving run from half-way was ended by a foul on the edge of the box. Dimitar Berbatov scored with the resulting free kick.
He signed for Spurs on a permanent deal in June 2007 and has made 9 starts for them from the bench.
Adel returned to Tottenham with two games remaining in his loan spell following a cartilage tear in training, but signed on for another season on July 22, 2009.
After impressing once more Rangers managed to capture the playmaker for a fee of £600,000 prior to the start of the 2010-11 season, and he inspired Rangers to promotion.
His performances were inconsistent, but at times mesmerising as Adel worked hard to keep Rangers in the top flight - he ultimately failed at the second attempt as Rangers were relegated in 2013.
