Alejandro Faurlín has had two seasons playing in the Argentinean Second Division with Instituto and during his brief spell discovered a deadly scoring rate.

The young playmaker made 29 appearances over two seasons for La Gloria where he scored seven goals.

This form had prompted clubs from all around Europe to sniff around the Estadio Presidente Perón for his signature.

Using their contacts in South America, Queens Park Rangers duo Jim Magilton and John Gorman managed to persuade the Argentinean youngster to pen a three year deal at Loftus Road for a record £3.5m - later proven to be a tad over-inflated.

A succession of managerial changes threatened to scupper the progress of the talented young midfielder, but he started to find his feet and play some outstanding football, Neil Warnock.

He was key to Rangers fight for promotion, even if the deal that brought him to Loftus Road nearly cost Rangers a points deduction. He was starting to sparkle in the top flight when his season was devestatingly cut short injuring his anterior cruciate knee ligament against MK Dons in the FA Cup.

He recovered in time to be available for the beginning of the 2012-13 season. He was however used less by Harry Redknapp than his predecessor Mark Hughes, and was loaned out to Palermo for the latter part of the 2012-13 season.
