Young goalkeeper Elvijs Putnins signed for QPR in September 2008 after success in Latvia with Auda Rīga.

Putnins has progressed well since joining QPR in the past year which culminated in winning the Fair Play Cup at the Trofeo Sardegno in Sardinia.

He trained with the first team towards the latter stages of the 2008-09 season, which saw him warm up in the penultimate game of the season against Wolves.

Putnins has also had loan spells at Hemel Hempstead and Boreham Wood in 2010/11

Elvijs became centre of attention as QPR had a goalkeeping crisis in 2011, with the R's unable to get an emergency loan despite having two keepers injured. Despite not really having a contract with QPR per se, the FA deemed he was eligible to sit on the bench, deputising for Radek Cerny, a 'keeper who himself had a long-term injury complaint.

Elvijs was eventially released in 2012.
