After coming up through the ranks of local club Lazio, Manchester United scouts spotting a 16-year-old Federico Macheda and brought him over to England.

After some useful performances for youth teams, Macheda was thrown into action against Aston Villa in the Premier League, his winning goal three minutes into injury time earned him further appearances.

Another came against Sunderland where another goal - barely seconds from his introduction - added to his growing reputation for the Red Devils.

He was loaned out to Sampdoria in 2011 but failed to trouble the scorers in 14 appearances, while joining QPR on loan in January 2012 - making his debut in the home defeat to Norwich City.

He made little to no impression in his time at Loftus Road, looking decidedly disinterested on the field while blasting manager Mark Hughes on Twitter for his lack of inclusion in the matchday squads. He was eventually sent back to Manchester United with an injury.
