A Malian international, Diakité made 41 appearances for French club AS Nancy before joining QPR on loan in January 2012 following the appointment of Mark Hughes.
His debut was far from vintage - sent off in the first half against Fulham for two yellow cards. However he rallied in devestating style.
He scored a winner against Arsenal and his tough tackling and soaring runs made him a firm fans' favourite at QPR.
He was eventually brought back to W12 by Hughes on a permanent transfer, and joined up with the players in the pre-season tour of the far east prior to 2012-13
Upon the departure of Hughes in 2012, and Harry Redknapp's introduction, Diakité found game time hard to come by and appeared to be once again suffering from home-sickness.
