Born in Haedo, Argentina - Mauro Zarate started his career at Velez Sarsfield before his form prompted Qatari side Al Sadd to spend a reported $22m.

He didn't settle in the Qatar however and found himself out on loan despite scoring four goals in six games. Birmingham City took the forward on loan in 2008 and despite netting four times he could not save Blues from relegation to the Championship.

He got his move away from Qatar, signing for Lazio - initially on loan - then permanently for a reported 20m. 25 goals in just over 100 appearances saw the Argentinean join Internazionale on loan - but a mere three goals at the Giuseppe Meazza meant a permanent transfer did not materialise.

After a war of words with parent club Lazio he was eventually sold back to boyhood club Velez - where he scored the winning goal in the 2013 Supercopa Argentina. West Ham United brought the striker back to England - reuniting with David Gold and David Sullivan.

Sam Allardyce confimed barely six months into the deal that Zarate was surplus to requirements - thus he made the move to Loftus Road on January 6, 2015. A cataclysmic transfer window resulted in Harry Redknapp trying to return Zarate with no luck - as he played no further part in the QPR squad for the remainder of the season.
