Lee setting up Camp elsewhere?

When Queens Park Rangers dropped two points at the City Ground at the weekend there was a slight unrest among a section of travelling supporters that Lee Camp was perhaps over-endearing himself to the home support, acknowledging every chant and soaking up the adulation of the crowd at the City Ground.

This bitter pill would have been slightly easier to swallow had the fans favourite stopper had put a stop to this prior to the game, but waving at the opposition supporters during the game showed a great disdain for nearly 2,000 fans who had made the trip from West London.

When you consider it was his poor error that cost the R`s two points in Nottingham, some might think it was in bad taste that he then clapped the hosts support as he exited the field. If he had left the situation at this point it could be somewhat understandable that the emotion of the occasion got the better of him and maybe it was a thanks for the tremendous support the City Ground crowd evidently gave him during his brief spell.

However later that evening the situation escalated when Lee spoke to BBC Nottingham, intimating that he would not be averse to a move to Forest, and even discussing how he would work with newly installed boss Billy Davies.

With Camp using phrases such as: "If Forest want to do something, fantastic. I'm under the impression that they know what to do." And "'It would certainly interest me, but the ball is in Forest's court.' it is understandable how he has raised the ire of Rangers support - with the statements ranging from the rationalised to outlandish on how to deal with the keeper.

When news came to light on the Sunday that he had performed an interview for Forest`s official website it somewhat raised the stakes in distasteful self-promotion, with Camp sharing a laugh with a club representative.

He explained how he had fallen on hard-times at QPR with Radek Cerny having the Indian sign over the Derby born stopper and how he had been training with the youth squad on his return to the Rangers set-up. Something tells me we`re only hearing half the story on this one!

In my opinion these allegiances should halt once you enter the field of play. How many times has an ex-player come back to Loftus Road, been given a decent reception at the beginning of the game, then all friendships put aside as you become enemies for 90 minutes.

It`s hard to tell where Lee Camp`s mind was throughout the game if he seemed intent on clapping the home supporters at every opportunity, going out of his way on occasions to make it known where his allegiances lie.

One thing is for certain the travelling support didn`t deserve to be caught up in his love affair with the City Ground, neither did they deserve to hear the shameless self-promotion that awaited them on their return.

"If Forest want to do something, fantastic. I'm under the impression that they know what to do." - If that is the case Lee, then why do they need reminding?

Your Reaction

Sandydl: "Can you imagine what his own team-mates must be thinking - he must have cast iron balls coz he's had to go to work this morning to face everyone at a Club he has made it plainly obvious he doesn't want to be a part of any more!"

southernhoop: "I suppose the real issue is whether he will be allowed to leave. How long is Cerny out injured? What happens when he's fit? Would we have a goalie on the bench if they are both available?"

Super82Hoops: "I wouldn`t sell him, or loan him now. I would make sure he cant play again this season, make sure he doesn`t get what he wants. Mainly because he went so public with his desire to leave.

"End of season, pack him off...maybe do a small scale version of Heinze when leaving United - sell to anyone but Forest!"

Clonmany Hoop: "Should never be allowed to put on a QPR shirt again after those sort of remarks.

"From what I have seen Sousa will play the people who will do a good job for the team and with Cerny injured Camp should have made it impossible for Cerny to get back in."

number8buser: "Camp has gone down in my estimation. If this is true,i will drive him to Nottingham myself.

"I can see what people mean by a poor attitude, probably why Derby originally got shot of him."
