Under 18's - Luton Town 2-2 QPR

QPR Under 18s picked up a point against Luton Town on Saturday despite enjoying the better of the game at Ely Way.

The R's were forced to come from behind twice in the game with Luton taking an early lead with the simplest of balls over the top and a fine finish to give Nik-Lee Bulmer little chance.

Town were coming into the game off the back of a crushing 3-1 defeat against Peterborough and it wasn't long before QPR exposed the home frailties with good work from Antonio German and Christian Nanetti set-up Sam Bewick to score with a rasping effort from 20-yards.

Shortly after the hour mark, and despite good spells of possession from the visitors QPR fell behind again with Luton netting from a quickly taken corner.

The scoring was complete moments later when Rangers sprung a counter-attack of their own. Michael Doughty's neat through pass found the aforementioned German, who used his strength to get beyond his markers and clip the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area.

There were further chances for Elliott Cox and Frankie Sutherland in the latter stages but Rangers inability to finish off their opposition was a great disappointment to Steve Gallen.

He told QPR.co.uk: 'The game was played at a great tempo by both sides and I felt there was a great deal of quality on show from both Luton and ourselves,

'Luton are always tough opposition. It was our best display of the season, including pre-season, so that just goes to show what a good match it was.'

Rangers host Millwall in the Youth Cup First Round on Saturday, while Luton travel to Northampton Town.

Rangers and Millwall are in Group Five along with the Aldershot Town, Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers.
